VR with Unreal4 - Current project

Function: 3D Freelance, Hobby
Software: 3Ds Max, Unreal Engine 4, Photoshop, Other to convert files
Client: Coolminds

Currently I'm really looking into the possibilities VR can bring in combination with 3D. With my background in visualization I chose to use Unreal Engine 4 which is easier to get great visual results than unity.

With this in mind I’m working on a few possible projects for clients as demo's. My main focus is getting an efficient workflow going and learning the elements I need for Unreal Engine4 (Lighting, animation, camera, VR, materials).

Converting 3D models
The 3D models you see are not made by me but they came from engineers and the game WoW. The challenge was converting these models into good standards for unreal 4.

Before anything goes to unreal it first has to enter the program 3Ds Max. It's an excellent program for bringing other sources together into one format. Combined with extra plugins you have several methods to make this possible. But many methods don’t give the desired result so it’s always knowing the possible methods and try out a few.

The biggest challenge are models made out of Nurbs that Engineers use. The conversion of Nurbs into polygon can have weird results and I’ve successfully succeeded in finding some good methods.
